Man admits to string of thefts in three month span

A man admitted to a string of thefts between November and January after being charged at the Gozo courts.

The Police said in a statement that the man, a 30-year-old from Cape Verde who lives in Msida, was charged on Saturday in connection with a number of thefts and attempted thefts.

Police said that the thief was identified and arrested initially in connection with two robberies from a lotto office in Msida in November 2023 and January of this year.

He was also accused of robbing another lotto office in Iklin and a fuel station in Xewkija in December, and from a hardware store in Xewkija last month.

He was further accused of trying to rob another fuel station and an office in Msida.

The man was further charged with damaging the places he carried out the robberies and for possession of stolen goods.

He admitted to the charges before duty magistrate Simone Grech and is expected to be sentenced later this month.
