The Public Broadcasting Service misrepresented Bernard Grech’s statements regarding climate change, Speaker of the House Anġlu Farrugia said on Wednesday as he delivered a ruling on a complaint filed by the Opposition leader.

The Nationalist Party leader’s complaint was about the PBS coverage of a speech he delivered on the topic of climate change during Monday’s parliamentary session as the session was conducting the second reading of the Climate Change Authority Bill.

Grech said that the coverage totally misrepresented him and gave the impression that he had actually said the opposite of what he intended.

In his ruling, Farrugia said that the PBS coverage did not accurately reflect Grech’s statement and that the quote used within the report which was attributed to Grech did not reflect the PN leader’s statement in its entirety.

PBS was ordered to enact the necessary amendments so that the report accurately represents Grech’s comments.
