Fondazzjoni Sagħtar launches book to help students become responsible adults

The book 'Superadult - Manwal għall-Kbar' is the latest publication by Fondazzjoni Sagħtar, funded by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector via the SIS (Small Initiatives Scheme), that is a compendium of advice for children on their journey to adulthood. The book is published in both English and Maltese, to encourage use of both languages, and 5,000 copies are to be distributed for free to church, state and independent schools. An online version is also available for free.

'Superadult' covers many themes including volunteering, education, sports, travel and other topics that will be relevant to maturing students, a government statement read. The book is intended to be made for easy reference and explains what an adult would do in the circumstance faced. It is designed for use by parents and educators for children, the government said.

Elaine Germani, Chairperson of Fondazzjoni Sagħtar, said that the Foundation wished to keep providing educational content to students and in this case it was made possible by this book.   

Julia Farrugia Portelli, Minister for Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector, said she was content the primary school children were enjoying the benefits of the projects made possible by the schemes organized by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector. Farrugia Portelli said the beauty of such projects is that they create initiatives for the greater good of society. She said she is hopeful that the funds of her ministry will be used in the best way possible.

Clifton Grima, Minister for Education, Sport, Teenagers, Research and Innovation, said that this publication is an example of how education is beyond the schooldesk. He said that education is the means that allows us to holistically teach our children to be responsible citizens. He added that this book will introduce students to various scenarios that are necessary in everyday life.
