The Nationalist Party said Tuesday that the country should no longer be led by an “indifferent” government, and will be seeking the resignations of three ministers who should take on political responsibility for the death of Jean Paul Sofia on a construction site in December 2022.
In a press conference, whip Robert Cutajar and spokesman for justice Karol Aquilina referred to the PN parliamentary motion to be discussed in Parliament, saying that if ministers Miriam Dalli, Silvio Schembri and Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi do not resign, Prime Minister Robert Abela should dismiss them.
The PN said that on Thursday it will seek that Parliament apologises to the family of Jean Paul Sofia after, last July, the government had voted against another PN motion for a public inquiry to be held, only for the PM to change his mind four days later.
Parliament is being asked to endorse the public inquiry report in its entirety.
The PN motion also seeks to see the implementation of the recommendations made by the public inquiry board within six months, and for the government to give updates every four weeks of the progress being made.
