On Thursday afternoon, the roof of a residence in Birkirkara collapsed after a boundary wall on a neighbouring construction site fell onto it, the police confirmed.

Emergency services were notified with the incident in Fleur-de-Lys road  at 12:45 pm.

A police spokesperson stated that preliminary investigations suggest a boundary wall at the construction site collapsed onto the roof of the neighbouring property, resulting in the collapse of the roof under the weight of the debris.

At the time of the incident, there were no occupants inside the affected property, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. Both the police and Civil Protection Department responded to the scene.

The police also confirmed that the OHSA has been informed of the incident, whilst Time of Malta reported that the Building and construction Authority has issued an immediate stop to the development.
