Opposition Leader Bernard Grech said that the Labour government has abandoned the children of Mtarfa as it is yet to identify a site for a new Mtarfa primary school, after the old school was shut down due to several structural problems pointed out.

Grech was speaking at a political event in Mtarfa, where he said that the PN is determined to make a difference in the small locality by pressuring government as well as presenting various projects and ideas.

“Government has abandoned the children of Mtarfa. First, he left them in great danger, and then, the PN and parents had to make pressure,” Grech said, adding that infrastructural issues at the school left students in continuous danger.

“This is Labour leadership does not care about your interests,” Grech said.

He mentioned another case of garage roofs in Mtarfa which are extensively damaged, and this danger is not acceptable.

“The PN is focused on your problems, others are busy saving his friends from serious criminal charges while they took money off the health of Maltese and Gozitan citizens,” Grech said, adding that Prime Minister Robert Abela is not concentrated on citizens’ needs.

He mentioned that tomorrow, there should have been an important and urgent discussion on mental health, but government said it had to postpone it as it needed further direction.

“They do not even have direction. That is why a PN government is important in your locality, and why the third seat at the European Parliament is important,” Grech said.

He appealed to citizens to attend the PN’s event on Sunday in Sliema, where Grech will be sending the message that the PN is determined and focused on citizens.
