“Whatever happens” James ‘Ryder’ Muscat, an independent candidate, who contested unexpectedly on the premise of “We’ve had worse”, was satisfied with how his campaign turned out. He added his aim was to raise some interest in politics, especially amongst the youth and to add “a perhaps more interesting flavour to politics”.
He reiterated, “whatever happens, I won”.
Muscat believes he reached his aim “100%” and he was pleased when the youth would reach out to him saying they were sixteen years of age and were going to vote for him. He added there were some people who wished to vote for him “as a protest” since “Better the clown than…[the other parties]”
Muscat said that when he spoke to University students and asked why they weren’t voting, he found that they were genuinely concerned with what was going on and they gave him a chance. He said that for that level of support he was immensely grateful.
