The Malta Tourism Authority has notified the general public that as part of its beach maintenance programme, sand recharges are going to be executed in the coming days in Buġibba Perched Beach, St Paul's Bay as well as St. George's Bay, St. Julian's.

"The sand imported from Jordan is expected to arrive in Malta around the 11th June 2024. Therefore, the plan is for the delivery and spreading of the sand to start at Buġibba Perched Beach on Wednesday, 12th June and St. George's Bay, St. Julian's on Monday, 17th June 2024. The public shall be kept updated of any changes to these dates.

In order to ensure traffic safety, the roads being used for unloading the sand in both St George's Bay (Triq ix-Xatt ta' San Ġorġ) and Buġibba Perched Beach (Part of Dawret il-Gżejjer) are being closed off to traffic, the MTA said. "It is also expected that works will continue throughout the night to ensure a faster completion and the least possible inconvenience to the public."

"The MTA would like to thank the general public for their co-operation and would like to apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused during the operation."
