PN MP Ivan Castillo said that he will file a petition to stop an application proposing the construction of apartments right next to a chapel in Manikata.
The application proposes internal alterations to an existing building, retaining existing façade, as well as the construction of a ground floor garage and maisonette, 6 apartments and 2 overlying penthouses. The building would be a total of 5 storeys, including the ground floor, high.
PN MP Ivan Castillo took to Facebook to blast the situation.
He said that the antique Manikata chapel will end up between "two giant structures, completely taken over."
"The government didn't learn from its past mistakes and from the public outrage in August 2022. This chapel was just restored and what is going to happen is the equivalent of demolishing it."
He said that he will file a Parliamentary petition to "stop this madness".
In August 2022, there was outrage at an application on the other side of the chapel, which had also proposed a black of apartments. It has been approved.
