Malta’s justice system did not give in to the pressure exerted by Prime Minister Robert Abela, Nationalist Party MP Karol Aquilina said on Wednesday following the court’s decree that there is enough evidence against fourteen who stand accused in relation to the Vitals case.

Aquilina, the PN's spokesman on justice, said that the Magistrates Court has decided that there is enough proof for the Deputy Leader of the Party and former Deputy Prime Minister, Chris Fearne, as well as Edward Scicluna, the Governor of the Central Bank, to be placed under indictment, “the same as Joseph Muscat, Konrad Mizzi, and Keith Schembri,” Aquilina remarked.

“Now we have the second Magistrate who, aside from the Attorney General and the Commissioner of Police, is saying in the clearest manner that these Labour politicians should be tried for serious crimes and abuses which resulted in the Maltese people being robbed of three hospitals and significant millions of euro.”

The PN MP concluded by saying that justice is speaking clearly and roundly to the Prime Minister. “Do not interfere, and stay in your place, we will ensure that the institutions will work so that what needs to be done is done,” he said.
