The GWU has declared an industrial dispute with WasteServ regarding the failure to provide adequate protective clothing for workers at the Waste Management Facility in Magħtab.

The action was registered by the Hospitality and Food Section within the General Workers' Union.

The Section came to register this dispute with the DIER after several attempts with the company’s management to give the summer uniform to the workers working in these high temperatures with the winter uniform. The GWU said that the section was not given any response back from the WasteServ management.

The Secretary of the Section, Kevin Abela said: "Health and safety at the workplace are a priority for us. As part of this process, the people who work outside must be given adequate protective clothing for the sun and heat. The GWU had no other way but to register an industrial dispute which could lead to industrial actions."
