Woman seriously injured by man wielding broken glass bottle

A woman was seriously injured after being attacked in St Julian's.

At 10am, the police said they were informed that a person was injured on the rocks near Triq il-Wilġa, St Julian's. The police went on site and preliminary investigations found that while the 25-year-old Colombian woman who resides in Sliema was with another person, an unknown man approached her and a commotion arose. The police said that at this point the man swung a broken bottle an the woman suffered a number of injuries.

A medical team was called on site and the woman was taken by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital. She was certified as having suffered serious injuries.

The police are still searching for the person involved.

Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia launched an inquiry. Police investigations are ongoing to establish the dynamics of the case.
