Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri has another scandal arising within his Ministry, lawyer Jason Azzopardi remarked in a statement posted through Facebook on Friday.
This is the latest in a number of accusations that the lawyer has levied, including that the Identita agency has been involved in a racket related to 18,000 false ID cards and some Members of Parliament and other government officials have attended “debauched parties” where “cocaine and prostitutes” would be present.
“After February 2020, a scandal arose which became very, very big. A scandal in Byron Camilleri’s Ministry,” the lawyer said in his Facebook post. He continued that this alleged scandal involves “corruption, conspiracy, trading in influence, false declarations, and fraud”.
Azzopardi said that this scandal occurred in LESA up to four months ago and that it was about traffic violations.
The lawyer concluded his statement by addressing Minister Camilleri. He asked when Camilleri first found out about the scandal and remarked that this is “another racket under your noise from which thousands of people have benefitted against the criminal law”.
He referred to the Labour Party’s general conference which will be occurring later on Friday, and commented that Camilleri should tell “those delegates who benefited from this racket with your blessing” that their time “is coming too”.
