A 40-year-old Nigerian man residing in Birżebbuġa lost his life after a quantity of tiles toppled onto him while he was working in a warehouse, police said.

The accident occurred Wednesday morning at around 8.30am in Triq il-Wied, Qormi.

A medical team and members of the Civil Protection Department were called to the scene to provide assistance, but the worker was unfortunately certified dead on site.

Magistrate Dr Monica Borg Galea LL.D was informed of the case and has opened an inquiry, while police investigations, together with those of the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA), are ongoing.
