The Chamber of Engineers, in collaboration with the Minister for Transport Infrastructure and Public Works, Chris Bonett, has launched the public directory, Find an Engineer. This platform will showcase engineers from various specialisations and help bridge the gap between the engineering profession and the public.
Chamber president Inġ. Malcolm Zammit explained that this initiative was conceived and commissioned by the Chamber to provide a new service for its members, while also serving as a valuable tool for the public. Find an Engineer is an accessible website, ensuring an open service that benefits society.
During his presentation, the Chamber president urged engineers to register in the directory, supporting the Chamber's efforts and contributing greater value to the initiative. While there are many specialisations, he emphasised that the foremost priority for engineers is to preserve public health and safety through an ethical and professional service.
Minister Bonett stated that engineers hold the knowledge and capabilities which are essential to solve the present problems and those which are yet to arise in the future. The Find an Engineer directory initiative aims to help citizens discover technical and professional expertise, fostering a greater appreciation for this vital profession.
"The Chamber's useful initiative to launch this public directory should be considered as one link of a chain of efforts which seek to continue improving the position and future of the engineering profession," concluded Minister Bonett.
The public directory will enhance access to professional engineering services for the public, and the Chamber of Engineers will continue to promote and refine it based on periodically identified needs.
