Man, teenaged girl critically hurt in two separate traffic accidents

A man and a woman were critically injured in two separate traffic accidents on Friday, the police said Saturday.

In the first accident, a 17-year-old girl was seriously hurt when she was hit by a vehicle in Mellieha.

The accident took place in Marfa Road at 5.30pm.

The girl, from Qormi, was hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 52-year-old man of Zejtun.

A Honda Civic which was parked in the vicinity was damaged.

The second accident (photo above) took place at 7.45pm in Dawret il-Gudja, Gudja.

It involved a Skoda Fabia, driven by a 50-year-old man of Gudja, and a Ford Fiesta, which was parked on the side of the road.

The police said that a 29-year-old man of Birzebbuga was seriously injured when he was caught between the two vehicles.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia is leading inquiries into both accidents.
