Out of a total of 173 breathalyser tests carried out in 2024, 93 were found to be positive with those tested exceeding the alcohol limit to be able to drive, Minister for Home Affairs Byron Camilleri told Parliament on Monday.
In a Parliamentary Question to the Minister for Home Affairs Byron Camilleri on Monday, PN MP Darren Carabott asked for the total number of breathalyser tests carried out in 2024, including the number of tests that were found to be positive.
Camilleri replied that the police carried out 173 breathalyser tests of which, 93 of those tested (53.76%) were found to have a ‘positive’ test, meaning that they exceeded the lawfully prescribed alcohol limit to be able to drive.
