Energy Minister Miriam Dalli did not specify how many unplanned power outages took place in 2024 as she was replying to a question posed by Nationalist Party MP Ryan Callus in Parliament on Monday.

Callus asked Dalli how many unplanned outages in the electricity supply occurred in 2024. He also asked for the dates of the outages as well as for the localities they impacted.

Dalli replied that any cut in the electricity supply which took place in 2024 “was according to what happens in normal circumstances, or due to localised faults that arise from time to time, or else the service suspensions were planned to carry out maintenance and announced in advance”.

She added that in any case, Enemalta does its best to return the service to normal in the shortest possible time.

She however did not provide an exact number of power outages.

“As I have explained several times, Enemalta is constantly investing and working hard to strengthen its distribution system so that the Maltese and Gozitan people are better served,” the Energy Minister concluded.
