Two new educational projects have been launched with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO), the Ministries for National Heritage and Education stated.

One of the two educational projects, the ministries began, is known as 'Sounds Like Me'. They continued that this is an interactive initiative that will tour schools around Malta and Gozo while establishing a direct link between music and children's health through creative activities.

They continued that the MPO, together with a multidisciplinary team of educational, psychological, and musical professionals under the artistic direction of Daniel Cauchi, created this project with a clear goal to help children discover orchestral music and how it can serve as an expressive tool in everyday life.

The second project, the ministries said, is MPOkids.com. They commented that this initiative is a new and innovative educational website which provides students with varied resources about the world of music and the MPO. They added that this platform includes educational videos, interactive quizzes, and other material that helps children learn more about orchestral instruments, the history of the orchestra, and the importance of music.

The ministries stated that these initiatives are intended to strengthen the role of music in education, help in the cultural growth of young people, and foster more appreciation for Maltese artistic heritage.

National Heritage Minister Owen Bonnici spoke of the importance of investing in the future of the Maltese orchestra. "Through these projects, students will be given the opportunity to experience the world of music in a more interactive and inclusive way," he remarked.

Education Minister Clifton Grima spoke about the importance of learning that goes beyond the curriculum taught in schools. "Through the link between education and culture, we are giving another opportunity to give education another dimension - a dimension that is as important as the education our students receive in their classes."

Grima said that the various initiatives enacted between the two ministries are giving various opportunities to students. "These are initiatives through which we are showing a commitment to nurture our students with a complete education, an education that also leads them to develop both personally and professionally," he remarked. Grima continued that with these two new educational projects, the ministries are fulfilling the commitment to bring music to young ages while using the medium to also help them with their mental health.

For her part, Vanessa Mangion, the CEO of the MPO, said that through MPOkids.com and Sounds Like Me, the students will increase their information on music, understand more about their needs with the different music, and express their emotions through music.
