The funeral cortege of Archbishop Emeritus Paul Cremona departed from Mater Dei Hospital to the St. John's Co-Cathedral in Valletta on Thursday.
Archbishop Emeritus Paul Cremona died on Tuesday night, aged 79. Mgr Cremona served as bishop between 2007 and 2014, when he retired, aged 68.
The funeral cortege was led by Fr. Michael Camilleri O.P., the chaplain of the Parish of St. Dominic in Valletta. It stopped outside of the Basilica of Our Lady of Safe Haven and St Dominic, where the Dominican Family paid tribute to Mgr Cremona.
After the cortege arrived at the Oratory of St. John's Co-Cathedral, Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna led the prayers for the dead, which began at 5 PM.
The body of Archbishop Emeritus Paul Cremona will be on public display for veneration until 8:30 PM.
