The Lands Minsitry has announced that a government property located in the heart of Senglea will formally be handed over to the Senglea Local Council by the Lands Authority.
This plot is to be used for cultural, educational, and community purposes, it said.
Lands Minister Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi shared this news on Monday alongside the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli who both presided over the signing of this devolution agreement.
Minister Zrinzo Azzopardi said that through its professional work and clear vision, the Lands Authority continues to support local councils in making use of government properties to the benefit of their respective local communities.
"Thanks to this agreement, we are continuing to increase our commitment to in favour of local communities and in favour of the preservation of our historical heritage," he said.
Zerafa Civelli welcomed this agreement signing. She remarked that through the handing over of this government property, more public spaces are being created for sustainable use to the enjoyment of Senglea residents and visitors who will attend exhibitions held at this site.
She added that the government is committed to continuing its work so that more public property is entrusted to local councils, "because it is precisely the councils that best know the needs of the localities they represent."
Senglea Mayor, Clive Pulis, thanked the Ministry and Parliamentary Secretariat for their cooperation leading up to the signing of this agreement - an agreement which he commented will benefit the Senglea community.
