162 third-country nationals owe over €1,000 in medical bills, minister says

Health Minister Jo Etienne Abela stated in Parliament on Monday that 958 third-country nationals have outstanding pending bills related to health services; 162 of these people owe at least €1,001 each.

These bills are not covered by private health insurance, and these persons are not entitled to free healthcare, as locals are.

Minister Abela revealed that 796 persons currently have pending health-related bills not exceeding €1,000.

Meanwhile, 125 third-country nationals owe between €1,001 and €5,000, 23 more must pay between €5,001 and €10,000, and a remaining 14 persons owe over €10,000.
