The second collective agreement for employees of the Parliamentary Service was signed on Monday, covering nearly 40 employees at the House of Representatives.
In a brief speech before the signing of the agreement, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Anġlu Farrugia, explained how this agreement, which covers the years 2025-2030, builds on the strong foundation of the first agreement that was concluded in 2022.
The Speaker expressed his gratitude to Kendrick Bondin, Section Secretary of the Government and Public Entities section of the GWU, and to the Clerk of the House, Eleanor Scerri, who led the negotiations to conclude this agreement, as well as to Claudine Parnis and Stephen Grech, who represented the employees during this process.
The Speaker referred to his speech on Sette Giugno last week, when he explained how the work within Parliament is continuously growing and evolving, and without the support of a strong administration, all the work currently being undertaken would not be possible. He explained that through the conditions offered to employees of the House of Representatives, the service aims to continue strengthening its human resources in order to provide an even better service to the country's highest institution.
Bondin, for his part, thanked the Speaker and the administration of the Parliamentary Service within the House of Representatives for their full cooperation in reaching this conclusion. He emphasised that this agreement is one of the best in the public sector, recognizing the important and sensitive work carried out by this institution.
