"Deputy Prime Minister Momo Koprivica emphasized the importance of jointly resolving the Mozura case, which is not only linked to high-level corruption but also to the murder of investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia," the statement read.

The statement by the Montenegro government continues: "The duty to shed light on both the crime and the corruption stems not only from the resolutions of the European Parliament but also from the fundamental need to build a healthy society in which every attack on life, freedom of speech, and the work of journalists is sanctioned. The Government of Montenegro will do everything within its competence - respecting judicial independence - to ensure that the Mozura affair and the murder of the brave journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia are fully clarified. Because the murder of a journalist is not merely a crime against an individual - it is an attack on society as a whole. Our answer must be truth and justice, without compromise, Koprivica stated."

It went on to state that both parties agreed on the need to intensify cooperation between the competent institutions of the two countries and to define concrete mechanisms that would enable efficient exchange of information and effective action in combating corruption and organized crime.

While in Malta, Deputy Prime Minister Koprivica also met with Matthew Caruana Galizia, investigative journalist and son of the murdered journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. On this occasion, he expressed Montenegro's strong commitment to actively contributing to the clarification of all circumstances surrounding this case, the statement read.

The Montenegro wind farm scandal centres on Enemalta's acquisition of the Mozura wind farm project in Montenegro. The deal has been under scrutiny for years over irregularities and reports of potential corruption. In December 2021, the parliament of Montenegro announced an inquiry into the Mozura wind-farm deal.
