Alegria Flamenco Dance School recently brought the term to a spectacular close with its end-of-year Academy Performance, "Adelante" - a vibrant showcase of passion, dedication, and the incredible progress of our students across all levels. We were also proud to feature a special performance by the Alegria Dance Company, adding professional artistry and inspiration to the evening. This Performance was dedicated to Rosana Maya, who established Alegria 25 years ago and who has inspired and mentored many a dancer.
The event was not only a celebration of dance but also a moment to recognize outstanding commitment and growth within our community. Congratulations to:
- Aiyana Lanzon, recipient of the Young Achievers Award
- Mariella Bugeja, honored with the Beginners Motivational Award
- Claire Falzon, recognized for her unwavering dedication with the Alegria Loyalty & Commitment Award
We are also thrilled to announce this year's Scholarship Award winners:
- Jessica Farrugia, awarded the Dhalia Local Scholarship, granting her access to unlimited classes throughout the upcoming scholastic year.
- Marelaine Mercieca, recipient of the Comsec International Scholarship, who will attend a prestigious course at the Festival de Jerez in Spain in 2026.
With "Adelante" behind us, Alegria is already gearing up for the next exciting chapter! Our new scholastic programme begins on 29 September, offering classes for all levels-from complete beginners to advanced dancers, including children (age 6+) and adults of all ages.
Alegria is offering a free trial class on Tuesday 9 September and experience the energy and joy of flamenco first hand!

Additionally, Alegria will be hosting a Flamenco Course in Seville, Spain from 15th to 19th September at the renowned Juan Polvillo School. Limited spots are available, so please contact us as soon as possible if you're interested in joining this unique dance experience in the heart of flamenco.
