The National Film Competition, organised by the Malta Cine Circle, this year reaches its 65th edition. This makes it the longest running film competition in Malta and one of the most longstanding of its kind both in Europe and worldwide. Last week, the participating productions were presented to a panel of judges, namely Vanessa Vella, Paul Camilleri and Clifford Xuereb.

Award for Direction: Zion Whelan with the film Telqa
Award for Editing: Julian Cachia with the film Mea Culpa
Award for Sound: Jonathan Backman with the film Apex
Award for Script Writing: Bruce Micallef Eynaud with the film We Three Kings
Award for Best Male Acting Performance: Wayne Smith for his role in the film Not Just Coffee
Award for Best Female Acting Performance: Jeanette Smith for her role in the film The Clairvoyant
The Jury Special Award for Innovative Viewer Interactive: Breathe produced by Maria Farrugia
The show of the winning films and presentation of awards will be held on Saturday, 26 July at 7.30pm at the Amphitheatre Hall, the Marriott Hotel, Balluta. Admission is open to the public free of charge.
