The Malta Cine Circle held the show of the winning films and the presentation of awards of the 65th National Film competition at the Gemini Hall at the Malta Marriott Hotel. The event was well attended and the audience was treated to a show of the best Maltese short film productions.

The Malta Cine Circle chairman, Vincent Lungaro Mifsud, presented the awards. The recipients of the awards were:

• Marija Farrugia for the Jury Special Award;
• Jeanette Smith for the Best Female Acting Performance;
• Wayne Smith for the Best Male Acting Performance;
• Jonathan Backman for Sound;
• Julian Cachia for Editing;
• Zion Wheelan for Direction;
• Clive Brincat for Cinematography, and
• Bruce Micallef Eynaud for Script Writing and the Best Production.

Elio Lombardi was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award which the Malta Cine Circle introduced for the first time this year. This award is intended to recognise the efforts and perseverance of Maltese filmmakers who have been successfully active in film production over the past years.

The host for the evening was Theresa Gauci.
