On 1 July, at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Sliema, the Soċjetà Filarmonika Sliema, together with the Kummissjoni Festi Parrocca Santwarju Madonna tas-Sacro Cuor, held a Vocal and Musical concert for the feast of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart of Jesus by the Banda Cittadina Sliema, conducted by Mro Lesley Tabone.

Together with the Banda Sliema were singer Marie Claire Cappello, tenor Angelo Muscat, baritone Ivan Vella, the children's choir Fathers' Angels led by Rev. Fr Joe Caruana OFM, and the parish choir of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The concert opened with Mro John Ivan Borg's Band Opening, followed by Sir Anthony Hopkins' famous waltz And the Waltz Goes On. After that, soprano Marie Claire Cappello joined the ensemble to perform Beyoncé's Ave Maria, arranged for the band by Mro Joe Brown. This was followed by Frank Erickson's Toccata for Band. Cappello joined again the Sliema Band performing Ġawhra by Gilbert Camilleri, arranged for band by Mro Tabone.

The concert continued with the hymn Int Sultana tas-Slimiżi, composed by Mro Tabone with lyrics by His Excellency Joseph Cuschieri, where the children's choir Fathers' Angels performed along with the band.

The band then went on to play the much-awaited Mro Ferdinando Camilleri's Lis-Sultana Tagħna tal-Qalb Imqaddsa ta' Ġesù with lyrics by Prof. Luigi Billion. Joining the band were tenor Muscat, baritone Vella, the Fathers' Angels children's choir and the parish choir.

Socjetà Filarmonika Sliema's president Jesmond Vella addressed all those present thanking everyone for their presence and help given. A donation was also given to Rev. Caruana OFM for the Fathers' Angels choir and to parish priest Rev. Fr Martin Coleiro OFM in aid of restoration works going on at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The concert came to an end with the Sliema Local Council anthem Tislima lil Tas-Sliema by Mro Andrew Coleiro and lyrics by H. E. Cuschieri; Domenico Quercetti's  popular hymn Viva Dejjem with lyrics by Fr Anastasju Cuschieri O.Carm and Inno Sliema, composed by Mro Cardenio Botti with lyrics by Prof. Billion.
