A man was arrested in Gozo after being involved in a crash with a bike that had allegedly been stolen earlier, the police said.

The police were informed about a traffic accident involving two motorcycles in Gharb at around 1.30pm.

On site, the police found a 34-year-old man, who had been riding a Honda which was involved in a collision with the other bike, a Kymco.

By-standers told the officers that the other biker had left the scene. A search was mounted for him and he was later located and arrested.

During his arrest, the police said the man, a 30-year-old Englishman, was aggressive.

It resulted that the Kymco bike had been stolen earlier in Sannat.

Both men were taken to hospital with the 34-year-old, who resides in Xaghra, found to have suffered grievous injuries.

The condition of the other man is pending.
