Archbishop Charles Scicluna appointed Dr Robert Tufigno as the President of the Cana Movement, the Maltese Curia said in a statement Saturday.

He takes the place of Dr Joseph Cassar, who had been in the role since January 2021.

The Cana Movement is an association within the Church in Malta that has been working with families since 1956. Among the services that the Cana Movement offers are marriage preparation courses, formation for couples and families, education in natural family planning and fertility awareness, counselling for all people who encounter personal and family difficulties, as well as close collaboration with parishes in the field of engaged couples and families. It also embraces the Christian Families Group (GRUFAN), made up of communities of families.

Dr Robert Tufigno is a lawyer and has been working in the Cana Movement in recent years when he served as a member of the Council of the Movement.
