Monday, 22 September 2025, 18:15 Last update: about 12 months ago

The PN is calling for a fair and swift resolution to the HSBC workers' dispute.

The party said that it is following closely the industrial dispute registered by the Malta Union of Bank Employees (MUBE) in relation to HSBC staff.

"We emphasise the importance of safeguarding workers' rights and ensuring that agreements entered into are fully respected," the PN said.

"Such disputes have a direct impact not only on the employees concerned but also on the financial sector and the wider economy. It is therefore vital that discussions take place in good faith, with transparency and fairness at the centre of the process. The PN urges the Department of Industrial and Employment Relations (DIER) to address this matter with diligence and impartiality. A timely and just resolution will help limit disruption while ensuring that the principles of justice and equity prevail. We will continue to monitor developments to ensure that the industrial relations framework remains strong, credible, and fair."

The statement was signed by Ivan Castillo, Shadow Minister for Maritime Affairs, Social Dialogue and the Fight Against Rising Cost of Loving, Graham Bencini, Shadow Minister for Finance, and Jerome Caruana Cilia, Shadow Minister for the Economy and Enterprise
