The Nationalist Party on Monday warmly wished a successful scholastic year to all educators and students as from today schools once again open their doors for the 2025-2026 scholastic year.

The PN said it regarded education as the most important tool available to humankind to build the society of today and tomorrow. When education is guided by a clear and well-thought-out vision, it allows our country to address the personal, cultural, social, and economic needs of its citizens.

"We are living in a time when our country's educational system is still not meeting the expected standards, and this is a matter of regret. At a time when essential skills are increasingly diverse, the PN reiterates its position in favour of truly inclusive education, where every boy and girl, every young man and woman, is given the opportunity and full support to develop their skills, irrespective of their academic or vocational inclination," the party said.

The PN said it wants to see an education system that is more sensitive to the needs and characteristics of today's generation. It wants to see education that encourages and nurtures critical thinking, the ability to face challenges effectively, the acquisition of digital skills and the capacity to keep pace with technological advances, knowledge of global citizenship, creativity and innovation, communication in all its forms, emotional intelligence, empathy and respect, and resilience for personal and social wellbeing.

The PN thanked Heads and Deputy Heads of schools, teachers and all educators, Education Officers, Heads of Department, various professionals, and ancillary staff who together with other employees within the Ministry for Education contribute fully to our country's educational system.

During this scholastic year, the Nationalist Opposition said it will once again commit itself to continue being a voice for all students and educators. It will not allow cosmetic initiatives to steal media attention and distract from the real needs. Above all, it will not tolerate a policy that sidelines the true needs of students and educators, and it will ensure that inclusion in all its forms remains at the centre of its policy. Moreover, it will continue to put forward its vision for the highest level of education, in line with the times and realities we are living today and those of the future, the statement concluded.
