Gallery 23 is proud to present Land and Sea 2025, a group exhibition showcasing the work of three accomplished Maltese artists whose distinct perspectives capture the power, beauty, and atmosphere of our surrounding landscapes. The exhibition is open until 26 October.

Through a curated selection of oil paintings and watercolours, Land and Sea explores the timeless interplay between earth and ocean - from serene horizons and reflective shorelines to brooding skies and storm-tossed waves. The artists' diverse interpretations convey the shifting moods of nature with remarkable depth and emotion, offering a compelling visual narrative of the land and sea that surround us: familiar, yet ever-changing.

Jeni Caruana explores the rugged beauty of cliffs and ancient towers, evoking the enduring relationship between nature and human history. Her landscapes, rich with the colours of weathered stone, wild flora, and sunlit terrain, express both energy and sensitivity - works that feel grounded, expressive, and quietly alive.

Adrian Camilleri turns his gaze to tranquil shorelines and reflective waters, offering a contemplative vision of the coast. Through soft washes and delicate detail, his paintings invite viewers into peaceful moments of connection with nature, while his more dramatic seascapes capture the raw power of open waters.

Henry Borg Barthet brings the vitality of nautical life to the canvas with a mastery that feels both immediate and timeless. His dynamic seascapes and sailing scenes pulse with movement, light, and the drama of wind against water. One can almost hear the crash of waves and the taut pull of sails as boats cut through turbulent seas. His bold, expressive brushwork conveys the exhilaration and unpredictability of life at sea.

Each artist contributes a distinctive style and technique, yet together they create a harmonious dialogue - an invitation to experience the Maltese landscape through fresh eyes. Whether drawn to the drama of a storm on open water, the quiet dignity of an ancient watchtower or the tranquillity of a morning tide, Land and Sea offers a powerful visual journey through landscape, weather, and time.
