This year's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative embraces the theme of "Rebirth" - a reflection on healing, renewal, and the human capacity to begin again. Organised by Malta Enterprise in support of Victim Support Malta, the initiative aims to raise awareness and funds to help individuals rebuild their lives after trauma and hardship.
Why "Rebirth"?
The theme represents courage after adversity - the moment when pain gives way to purpose, and silence transforms into strength. For many survivors supported by Victim Support Malta, "Rebirth" mirrors their journey of rediscovery and resilience.
Inspired by the artistic vision of Pam Abela, Rebirth was conceived as both a creative and social statement. Recognising the depth of her work, Malta Enterprise partnered with Pam to shape this year's CSR event, where she will present her Rebirth collection alongside the latest Charles & Ron designs - a celebration of renewal, strength, and transformation.
Beyond raising funds, Rebirth seeks to foster understanding of emotional and psychological recovery. It honours those who have reclaimed their strength and reminds us that every act of compassion can spark a new beginning. Funds raised will directly support Victim Support Malta's free counselling, advocacy, and education services for survivors of crime and trauma.
"Art can guide transformation - in people, in culture, and in organisations," says Pam. "Rebirth celebrates the power of renewal as a shared human and social responsibility."
For Pam, Rebirth began as a deeply personal inquiry, an inner process of transformation that evolved into a universal metaphor. Rooted in her exploration of conscious femininity and healing, her art becomes both mirror and medicine - a visual meditation on resilience, emotion, and renewal.
Her mixed-media works - The Golden Eye (2023), Return of Venus (2023), The Leaves of the Banyan Tree Came Floating to Me (2024), and Alchemy (2025) - blend oils, papyrus, gold leaf, charcoal, and collage on wood. Each piece captures the delicate balance between fragility and endurance. Gold becomes a metaphor for light and transcendence, while papyrus and natural textures evoke nature's quiet capacity to heal.
Through Rebirth, Pam invites viewers to see transformation not as an endpoint, but as an ongoing practice - one rooted in empathy, imagination, and care. As we come together under this theme, we at Malta Enterprise together with Victim Support Malta, celebrate the enduring human spirit: the ability to renew, to reconnect, and to rise again with hope.
About the Artist
Pam Abela is an artist and curator for therapeutic spaces, merging her background in art practice and nursing to create environments of care through creativity. Her work bridges art and health, translating emotion, narrative, and sensory experience into visual and participatory forms. Through workshops, site-specific art, and metaphorical storytelling, she enhances supportive environments that promote healing and connection.
As an arts and cultural agent in health, Pam advocates for wellbeing through creativity and collaboration. Her ongoing work continues to explore how art serves as both a mirror and a medicine - a pathway to understanding ourselves and restoring wholeness in a divided world.
