The EU Programmes Agency (EUPA) organised the 2025 Awards Ceremony, during which over €17 million in European funds were allocated to 195 projects in Malta under the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps programmes.
The Minister for European Funds and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme, Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, commended Malta's strong performance in absorbing EU funds and underlined that these projects will support inclusive education, vocational training, digital and green skills development, and active youth participation in society.
He stated that these investments reflect Malta's commitment to European values and lifelong learning, and that through the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps programmes, Malta continues to make a positive impact on thousands of citizens.
The Minister also announced that EUPA will strengthen its role in facilitating Malta's access to funds managed directly by the European Commission through the establishment of a dedicated team and support desk. This initiative aims to attract additional resources, support ambitious projects, and ensure closer alignment between national and European priorities.
Erasmus+ operates on four horizontal priorities: Inclusion and Diversity, Digital Transformation, Environment and the Fight Against Climate Change, and Democratic Participation. Malta's implementation of these programmes continues to reflect these principles, achieving tangible progress in reaching diverse groups, promoting new skills, and fostering active European citizenship.
In conclusion, the Minister expressed his gratitude to the beneficiaries, partners, and EUPA staff for their ongoing commitment to advancing education, inclusion, and innovation in Malta.
The conference was also addressed by the Permanent Secretary within the Ministry for European Funds and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme, Jonathan Vassallo, and by the National Coordinator of EUPA, Raphael Scerri. Both highlighted the importance of ensuring that European funds continue to be utilised efficiently, delivering a real and lasting impact on the educational community and society at large.
