The man who went missing at sea last Monday has been found dead, the police said Wednesday.

The 37-year-old from England had found himself in difficulty while swimming at Ramla l-Hamra.

His son, 11, who was swimming with him died at the Gozo hospital soon after he was taken ashore.

They were later names as Mohammad Qadoos and his son Ayan. 

A helicopter and a dinghy were deployed in the search operation.

A search for the missing adult continued Tuesday and Wednesday, with the police being informed by the Armed Forces of Malta that his body had been found earlier this morning.

Magistrate Jean Paul Grech is leading an inquiry.
