Two men, aged 38 and 51, have been arrested following investigations into a burglary and an attempted burglary at private residences belonging to elderly people in Mġarr and Għaxaq, the police said Friday.
The first incident took place on October 19 at a residence in Triq Sir Temi Zammit, Mġarr. Investigations revealed that an unknown person or persons had forced open the front door of the house and stolen around €18,000 in cash.
The second case occurred on October 26, when police were informed that someone had tried to force open the door of a home in Triq San Filippu, Għaxaq. However, for unknown reasons, the alleged thief fled the scene before managing to enter the property.
Following these incidents, police identified the two men believed to be involved. They are expected to be arraigned in court today at around 1:30 p.m. before Magistrate Dr. Marseann Farrugia LL.D.
