It is deplorable and absolutely unacceptable that Minister Chris Bonett continues to completely ignore the problems faced by the people of Msida, the Natiomnalist Party said Saturday.
After persisting with his plan to build a flyover in the heart of Msida, while it is the Msida residents who are suffering the most during the ongoing works, Minister Chris Bonett has still not found a single hour to meet with the Msida councillors to discuss the problems that have persisted over recent months.
Yet, the same Minister found time to visit Msida twice to pose for the cameras, the PN said.
This behaviour is deeply disappointing for the councillors and shows a clear lack of respect towards the people of Msida on the part of the Minister.
Despite the majority of Msida councillors disagreeing with the flyover project, all councillors have shown full cooperation with the Ministry and with Infrastructure Malta regarding the works. It is regrettable that the same cannot be said about the Minister.
In recent hours, Chris Bonett called a press conference to announce traffic changes that will take effect tomorrow, Sunday.
The Msida Local Council learnt of the details of these changes along with the rest of the public, on the eve of their implementation. This is unacceptable, the PN said. Moreover, all the details remain unclear, and we have no assurance that there will be adequate officers on site to direct traffic and ensure road safety so that accidents are avoided.
This is not the first time that the Msida councillors have appealed to the Minister to pay attention to the concerns of Msida residents.
The councillors' first priority is the safety of residents.
The PN councillors in Msida once again appealed to the Minister to visit Msida in the coming days, even if it is not his electoral district, so that he can see for himself the problems being faced by residents and understand the councillors' concerns regarding the systematic lack of safety and other shortcomings related to the ongoing works.
