23-year-old woman suffers serious injuries in traffic accident

A 23-year-old woman suffered serious injuries in a traffic accident in Gozo.

On Saturday morning, at around 3.45 am, the Police were informed that there had been a traffic accident in Triq l-Imġarr, Għajnsielem, Gozo.

Police officers immediately went on site, and from the initial investigations it resulted that a BMW 118D, driven by a 22-year-old woman from Qala, crashed into a pole. In the vehicle there were also a 23-year-old woman from Għajnsielem and a 21-year-old man from Sannat.

A medical team was called to the scene, and an ambulance took the passengers to Gozo General Hospital, while the driver was taken there later due to shock.

Later, the Police were informed that the young man was not injured and that the 23-year-old woman was in a stable condition.

However, at around 6pm in the evening, the Police were informed that the condition of the 23-year-old woman had changed and she was certified as suffering from serious injuries.

Magistrate Brigitte Sultana was informed of the case and opened a Magisterial Inquiry, while Police investigations are still ongoing.
