A 41-year-old man has died at the bus terminus in Victoria, Gozo, on Sunday afternoon, after appearing to have asphyxiated.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene after receiving reports that at around 12.30pm, a man had collapsed.

The police said that the man, who is a Victoria resident, was part of a group of people who were waiting at the bus stop, and had been eating food shortly before the incident occurred.

The man was assisted at the scene and taken to Gozo General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
