During a ceremony held at Police Headquarters, presided over by the Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment, Byron Camilleri, and the Police Commissioner, Angelo Gafà, two Inspectors were appointed to the rank of Police Superintendent, while 19 constables were promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

In his address during the ceremony, Minister Byron Camilleri remarked that in recent years the Police Corps has managed to reduce the crime rate through a prevention-based policy, ranking among the twelve safest countries in the world, while also gaining greater public trust. He urged the officers to continue working to achieve even more of these results while serving as a support and service to society.

In his speech, Police Commissioner Angelo Gafà congratulated all the officers who were promoted and stated that the Police Corps continues to strengthen its diversity, with 38 percent of those promoted being women. This also shows how women are playing an increasingly central role in the Corps' structures. He also mentioned that Malta is currently ranked as the seventh country in the European Union with the highest proportion of women in the police force.

He also recalled the launch of the Corporate Strategy for the next five years, marking the beginning of a new phase in the operation of the Police Corps. He emphasized that the officers who were promoted are the protagonists of this new phase.

Among those attending the appointment ceremony were Deputy and Assistant Commissioners, the Director General of the Police Corps, and the Permanent Secretary, among others.
