Official inauguration of Mtarfa Square following a €1.5 million investment

Hundreds of families attended a community event titled 'Iż-Żunżana Ddur Iddur fil-Pjazza tal-Imtarfa', held to celebrate the official inauguration of the newly regenerated Mtarfa Square, "now larger, more beautiful, and more accessible for residents to enjoy," the government said.

Set against a lively backdrop of traditional Maltese games, marching band music, and local food, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia remarked that despite the extensive works carried out on the square, just over a year after construction began, "we are giving back a larger, more beautiful, and more accessible square, but above all we are giving back a square that belongs to the people."

The Parliamentary Secretary said that these are precisely the kinds of activities that should fill public spaces, squares, pedestrian areas, and green open spaces. "Because investing in such projects and activities is ultimately an investment in people, in Maltese and Gozitan families," he stated.

The Mtarfa Mayor, Dale Hayman, expressed his gratitude to the Public Works Department and to the Parliamentary Secretariat for their commitment to delivering this project. He also reiterated his and the Local Council's dedication to organising activities for families and residents to enjoy this new square together.

Also present for the inauguration of the regenerated Mtarfa Square were Member of the European Parliament and former Mtarfa Mayor Daniel Attard, as well as former Mayor Kyle Mifsud.
