The 'Gozo Channel card' is currently undergoing final testing and is set to be introduced early next year, Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri said.

Camilleri was replying to a parliamentary question made by PN MP Chris Said, who asked the Minister to give an update to Parliament on tender SPD3/2022/065, CFT Title 'Construction, finishing works and commissioning of an e-ticketing project at Ċirkewwa and Mġarr passenger ferry terminals.'

Said asked Camilleri to say how much the tender was awarded for, as well as to say when the works required by this tender will be completed and when the full e-ticketing system will begin operating.

Camilleri replied that the aforementioned tender was awarded for a value of €472,137.52 (excluding VAT).

He said that at present, the e-ticketing system is being used regularly by anyone who wishes to use it.

Camilleri said that meanwhile, work is currently underway to introduce the Gozo Channel card.

He said that this card is currently undergoing UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and is expected to be launched at the beginning of next year.

The Minister also said that once the Gozo Channel card is introduced, the tender will be closed.
