The Parliamentary Secretariat for Social Dialogue, together with the Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises, has launched an initiative to support Maltese businesses during Black Friday.
The aim of this initiative is to promote the discounts offered by Maltese businesses during the Black Friday period. Through the platform www.blackfridaymalta.eu, consumers can find offers and discounts from various local shops and service providers all in one place. This initiative makes it easier to shop from Maltese businesses while directly helping them to increase their visibility and attract more customers during this important period leading up to the festive season.
Parliamentary Secretary for Social Dialogue Andy Ellul stated that the Government has a clear objective, to continue providing concrete support to small and medium enterprises so that they can grow and remain competitive in the local market. "The occasion of Black Friday has become part of the calendar not only for Maltese and Gozitans but also around the rest of the world, and this presents an opportunity for Maltese businesses. Through this platform, we are making it easier for consumers to find good offers from local businesses. We are encouraging families to choose products and services from Maltese enterprises," Ellul said.
This support for enterprises is also being strengthened through measures announced in the 2026 Budget, which include continuing to guarantee stable energy bills for businesses, along with financing schemes for those wishing to expand or invest in more efficient technologies, a statement by the Parliamentary Secretariat read.
On his part, Marcel Mizzi, speaking on behalf of the Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises, explained that the platform offers a simple and effective tool both for buyers and sellers. "Black Friday is an important day for Maltese businesses. Our aim is to encourage businesses to offer good discounts and for people to choose to shop from local enterprises. This platform makes it much easier for consumers to find all offers and business details in one place."
