President Myriam Spiteri Debono resumed her duties on Sunday afger undergoing surgery on Saturday, her office said Sunday.

On Saturday, Spiteri Debono was admitted to Mater Dei Hospital today for a medical intervention which needs the administration of general anaesthesia.

Since the President was unable to fulfil her duties, Helena Dalli assumed the office of Acting President of the Republic until Spiteri Debono was able to resume her position.

The two statements issued Saturday and Sunday did not give more details.
