The Ministry for Social Policy and Children's Rights has signed a three-year social agreement, worth €985,500, to bolster its support and funding to an NGO that helps vulnerable mothers.

This social agreement was signed by the Social Policy Ministry and the Suriet il-Bniedem Foundation to extend the management of Dar Tereża Spinelli, which is a homeless shelter that welcomes women and mothers with children.

The Tereża Spinelli residence not only serves as a shelter, but also provides health services, including psychological ones, as well as socio-legal assistance, among others.

This agreement was signed so that the needs of these people, who have found themselves in need of temporary accommodation due to social difficulties, can continue to receive this strong social service for the next three years, through the allocation of the near million-euro sum.

"These agreements are clear evidence of how much this government believes in everyone's potential," Minister Michael Falzon said, "We do not wait until that vulnerable person reaches a state of danger in their life, but we intervene in order to prevent the consequences that may be caused."

The Foundation's Chairperson, Marique Sciberras, stated that this residence is one of five homes managed by the Suriet il-Bniedem Foundation. Sciberras noted that at Dar Tereża Spinelli, women and mothers with various and complex social problems, "who have lost everything," are assisted.

"Our ultimate goal is to help them find their place in society," Chairperson Sciberras concluded.
