Housing Minister Roderick Galdes visited the social housing sector in San Ġwann (Taż-Żwejt) where extensive regeneration works are being carried out on three residential blocks.
This projects - which is being carried out by the Housing Authority and Housing Projects Solutions Limited - involves interventions on the building façades, entrances, common areas, and roofs of the three blocks. These three blocks hold 130 apartments.
This regeneration project is costing just over a million euro (€1,036,000), though through it, hundreds of residents living in this community will benefit.
The purpose of this project is not only to carry out structural and maintenance works, but also to significantly improve the environment around residents so that they can enjoy safer, more modern, and aesthetically pleasing common spaces.
During this visit, Minister Galdes stressed that regeneration projects like this highlight the government's commitment to improving the quality of life of social housing residents in every corner of the country.
"Every investment like this is an investment in people's dignity. We want every family living in these communities to feel a sense of pride in the place where they live. These projects make a real difference not only in infrastructure but also in the sense of belonging and respect for the environment around them," Minister Galdes said.
The Minister for Social and Affordable Housing noted that similar works are being carried out, or will be carried out, in other localities around Malta and Gozo as part of a national maintenance and improvement programme to the social housing sector.
