A man was arrested by the police in connection with an armed robbery that took place in Santa Venera last week.

The police said the man, aged 29 from Ghana, entered the shop in St Joseph High Road at 9pm and, armed with a knife, demanded money from the cashier, a 35-year-old woman from Nepal.

The woman tried to escape but the man held her, then making off with an undisclosed amount of cash. The woman suffered slight injuries.

Police investigations led them to arrest the perpetrator in Mgarr.
