On World Human Rights Day, the Nationalist Party said it is committed to uphold and strengthen the fundamental rights of every individual, without discrimination and without conditions.

Human rights are not privileges to be granted or withdrawn according to political convenience - they are universal, inherent, and non-negotiable.

Today also marks the conclusion of the 16 Days of Activism Against Domestic and Gender-Based Violence.

In our country, we have witnessed a dangerous narrative suggesting that rights should be "earned", the PN said. This is not the vision of the PN - "We believe that every person, whoever they may be, is entitled to the dignity and protection afforded by the European Convention on Human Rights and the principles of the European Union of which Malta is a member".

The PN also condemned any attempt to diminish or weaken these guarantees. Instead, we must strengthen our institutions so they can provide justice, transparency, and protection for all - including the vulnerable, migrants, and those who too often end up marginalised.

Today, we are reminded that human rights are the foundation of freedom, equality, and peace.

The PN said it remains firmly committed to safeguarding these values in its policies, in legislation, and in everyday practice.
