The National New Year's Eve celebrations will return to Valletta, featuring a spectacular night of live music, entertainment, and a grand fireworks display over the Grand Harbour, the government said in a statement.

It said that St George's Square will once again serve as the centre of the festivities, hosting a number of Maltese and international artists.

Culture Minister Owen Bonnici said that New Year's Eve in Valletta has become a celebration that brings communities together in the heart of the capital city.

"This event showcases the talent we have in Malta while welcoming international artists who help make the evening even more special. We are proud to support celebrations that create joy, unity and a strong cultural experience for the public," he said.

Chairman of the Valletta Cultural Agency Jason Micallef said that this event is undoubtedly the biggest end-of-year event in Malta.

"I encourage everyone to join us in the heart of the capital for this spectacular celebration, and in the Grand Harbour area at midnight for the most impressive fireworks display we have ever presented. This has been made possible through our collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority. Let us welcome 2026 together," Micallef said.

The celebrations will open with a performance by local singer Glen Vella together with his band.

The evening will continue with a special concert by the Palace String Orchestra, featuring a line-up of well-known Maltese artists including Aidan, Drakard, Denise, Gaia, Karin Duff, Keith Zammit Mintoff, and Klinsmann.

As midnight approaches, DJs Denzel Jo Armani and Wayne will take over the stage with an energetic set, the statement said.

Their performance will be accompanied by impressive stage effects and a synchronised fireworks display, which will also be broadcast live on local television, it said.

At the stroke of midnight, international star John Newman will perform live to welcome in the New Year.

Newman is known for globally chart-topping songs such as "Love Me Again" and for collaborations with artists including Calvin Harris on the hit "Blame." The night will conclude with a set by DJ Gabii.

The National New Year's Eve Celebrations in Valletta are organised by G7 Events and supported through the Large-Scale Events and Initiatives Partnership Agreement provided by the Valletta Cultural Agency within the Ministry for Culture, the Arts and Local Government.

The event is also supported by the Malta Tourism Authority and will be presented by Jamie Cardona and Taryn Mamo Cefai.
